The named conditions of ESSENCE have theoretical and clinical links with personality disorders in adulthood; Asperger's disorder was initially described as a form of schizoid personality disorder in children [13], conduct disorder is by definition a prelude to antisocial personality disorder [14], anorexia nervosa has been linked to
anancastic and alexithymic personalities, and longitudinal studies have shown that ADHD carries an increased risk for antisocial personality disorder, and a growing clinical literature assesses its links with borderline personality disorder [15].
In the uncorrected Centroid version (figure 8-left) the first positions contain terms belonging to other types of personality disorder such as "schizotypical", "schizoid", "
anancastic", "eccentric" or "introverted" (in other words, we can observe the so-called Predominant meaning inundation).
