aminosalicylate

 [ah-me″no-sah-lis´ĭ-lāt]
any salt of p-aminosalicylic acid; they are antibacterials effective against mycobacteria and the sodium salt is used orally as a tuberculostatic.

Mesalamine Delayed-Release Capsules are contraindicated in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to salicylates or aminosalicylates or to any of the ingredients of Mesalamine Delayed-Release Capsules.
More commonly, the treatment of IBD requires aminosalicylates. Often, steroids are used to control the flares of the disease and are used as a maintenance drug.
