 [al-bu´mĭ-noid]
1. resembling albumin.
2. an albumin-like substance; the term is sometimes applied to insoluble substances known as scleroproteins.

2. Any protein.
3. A simple type of protein, insoluble in neutral solvents, present in horny and cartilaginous tissues and in the lens of the eye; for example, keratin, elastin, collagen. Synonym(s): glutinoid, scleroprotein
