These tests are performed by administering sodium channel blockers to patients, such as flecainide,
ajmaline, procainamide, propafenone and disopyramide, while recording the changes in the ECG.
Quantitative determination of reserpine,
ajmaline and ajmalicine in Rauwolfia serpentina by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography.
The most pharmacologically active indole alkaloids are
ajmaline, deserpidine, rescinnamine, reserpine, serpentine, and yohimbine.
The alkaloids rauwolfine, reserpine, rescinnamine, serpentine,
ajmaline serpentinine, steroid-serposterol and saponin are some of the active R.
vomitoria include rauwolfine, reserpine, rescinnamine, serpentine,
ajmaline serpentinine, steroid-serposterol and saponin (8).
This can be done with AADs such as
ajmaline, flecainide or procainamide, though currently
ajmaline is preferred due to its higher sensitivity in revealing Brugada type ECG changes (1).

Ajmaline is an alkaloid that is class Ia antiarrhythmic agent.
In the next period the patient suffered repeat sustained monomorphic VT resistant to maximal pharmacotherapy with amiodarone (1200 mg/day; Sedacoron, Lek Pharmaceuticals d.d., Ljubljana, Slovinsko), prajmaline (80 mg/day, Neo-Gilurytmal, Pharmaselect International Beteiligungs GmbH, Vienna, Austria), or
ajmaline (25-50 mg intravenous; Gilurytmal, Carinopharm GmbH, Elze, Germany).
In individuals in whom the ECG is normal, the characteristic findings can be elicited by the administration of procainamide, flecanide, or
ajmaline, a sodium channel blocker.
Biogenetic link between sarpagine and
ajmaline type alkaloids, Tetrahedron Lett., (24): 5197-5200.
Sodium-channel blockers such as
ajmaline, fever and hyperkalemia can induce this ECG pattern.
Rauwolfia alkaloids, pharmacologically can be divided into reserpine and
ajmaline groups, while reserpine is used for sedative action in mild anxiety states chronic psychoses and in treatment of chronic schizophernic patients.
