 [ad″ap-tom´ĕ-ter]
an instrument for measuring the time required for retinal adaptation, i.e., for regeneration of the visual purple; used in detecting night blindness, vitamin A deficiency, and retinitis pigmentosa.

An instrument for measuring the variations in threshold of luminance. The most common is that of Goldmann-Weekers.
