Although such an attitude provides protection from the social and psychological difficulties associated with the
acculturation process, it may endanger the engagement of immigrants in the host country.
To extend the understanding of the career development of diverse populations, we sought to explore both international and domestic college students'
acculturation, career thoughts, goal instability, and vocational identity.
Because Latinos are among the most avid users of social media in the United States, this study set out to examine how
acculturation processes contribute to Latinos' engagement in emerging modes of political participation (i.e., social media political expression) and in more traditional forms of political engagement.
When these two underlying issues are considered simultaneously, a conceptual framework is generated which posits four
acculturation strategies, assimilation, integration, marginalization, and separation (AIMS) (Berry, 1990, 1997, 2005; Berry & Sabatier, 2010).
Once we answer the
acculturation framework questions, the next step is to decide on an
acculturation strategy by choosing from one of the following four strategies:

acculturation are consistent with a White Racial Framing of Puerto Rican life chances.
Hmong women will display a positive relationship between
acculturation and the expression of attitudes toward and willingness to seek counseling services.
