transduction in which the genetic fragment from the donor bacterium is not integrated in the genome of the recipient bacterium, and, when the latter divides, is transmitted to only one of the daughter cells.

abortive transduction

A transduction event in which the fragment of donor gene or DNA does not incorporate in the recipient chromosome and, because the DNA fragment lacks an origin of replication, it is only inherited by one daughter cell at each cell division.
