ZC3HC1

A gene on chromosome 7q32.2 that encodes an essential part of an SCF-type E3 ligase complex, SCF(NIPA), which controls cell cycle entry by mediating ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of cyclin B1. This cell-cycle-dependent phosphorylation regulates assembly of the SCF(NIPA) complex, restricting cyclin B1 ubiquitination to interphase; inactivation results in nuclear accumulation of cyclin B1 in interphase and premature mitotic entry. ZC3HC1 may have an antiapoptotic role in NPM-ALK-mediated signalling events.
