Tardigrada

(taxonomy) 1 (formerly) sloths; (now) Bradypodidae.a group of small, transparent 8-limbed ARTHROPODS often classified as ARACHNIDS. Note that the name has been used to denote two different animal taxons.

The founder of the Arch Mission Foundation, Nova Spivack, told the magazine that their cargo aboard Beresheet, a few thousand tardigrades planned for biological experiments, could be 'the only surviving thing from that mission.'
Arch Mission Foundation boss Nova Spivack said: "We believe the chances of survival for the tardigrades are extremely high."
Based on an analysis of the spacecraft's trajectory and the composition of the device the micro-animals were stored in, "we believe the chances of survival for the tardigrades...are extremely high," Nova Spivack, founder of the Arch Mission Foundation, told AFP.

In its desiccated form, the tardigrade performs some life-saving functions.
