Taking Care 24/7

Taking Care 24/7

A group of pilot studies in the UK, initiated by the NHS Skills for Health Workforce Projects Team in late 2006, which assessed different models for providing healthcare services over the full 24 hour day. The aim was to support healthcare organisations across the NHS, refocus ways of working, use different staff to reduce the dependence on junior medical staff and restructure work patterns to comply with the European Working Time Directive’s mandate of ≤ 48 hour weeks for junior doctors.
