TCF7L1

TCF7L1

A gene on chromosome 2p11.2 that encodes a transcription factor of the T-cell factor/lymphoid-enhancer factor family, which are activated by beta catenin, mediate Wnt signalling and are repressed by transforming growth factor-beta signalling. TCF7L1 participates in regulating cell cycle genes, in terminal differentiation of epidermal cells and in cell senescence; it contains a high mobility group (HMG)-box DNA-binding domain.
