The hair over the palmar aspect of each metacarpal region was shaved, from the base of the accessory carpal bone to the base of the proximal

Cross-sectional images of normal SDFT were obtained of the palmar aspect metacarpal region of each horse using an ultrasound unit (Aloka SSD-900) with a 7.5MHz linear transducer (Aloka UST-5710-7.5), an acoustic stand-off pad (Sonokit, Sonogel Vertriebs GmbH, Alemanha) and acoustic gel (Carbogel-ULT).
