(sar'kō-mas'ti-gof'ŏ-ră),
A phylum of the subkingdom Protozoa characterized by flagella, pseudopodia, or both types of locomotory organelles; includes both the flagellates (subphylum Mastigophora) and the amebae (subphylum Sarcodina) in a single large assemblage.
