SAV1

A gene on chromosome 14q13-q23 that encodes a key regulator of the Hippo signalling pathway. SAV1 plays a pivotal role in controlling organ size during embryogenesis and tumour suppression by restricting proliferation and promoting apoptosis, resulting in cell cycle exit and terminal differentiation in developing epithelial tissues. It is ubiquitously expressed in adult tissues, especially in the pancreas, aorta and interventricular septum.
