Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow
A professional organisation with members in surgery, medicine, dentistry and travel medicine; it was founded by royal charter in 1599 as the Glasgow Faculty, the remit of which was to oversee physicians, surgeons, dentists and, until 1722, apothecaries and barbers. It became the Royal Faculty in 1909 and a Royal College in 1962. It strives to deliver high standards of healthcare throughout the world, offering postgraduate medical education, examinations and assessments, as well as continuing professional development.
