RIP kinase 1

RIP kinase 1

Receptor-interacting protein kinase 1. A protein, formally known as receptor (TNFRSF)-interacting serine-threonine kinase 1, encoded by RIPK1 on chromosome 6p25.2, which interacts with the death domain of FAS and TRADD and initiates apoptosis. RIP kinase 1 is recruited by TRADD to TNFR1 in a TNF-dependent process; RIP kinase 1 is required for TNFR1 activation of NF-kappa B.
