Potosi virus

A negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus of the Bunyaviridae family, genus Orthobunyavirus, Bunyamwera virus group serotype. It is not known to cause human disease.

Potosi virus, meanwhile, has not been found to be similar to any other U.S.
In 1990, entomologists reported they had isolated the so-called Potosi virus from specimens of Asian tiger mosquitoes collected in Potosi, Mo.
Recent data suggest that CHLV is a reassortant that acquired its small RNA segment from CVV and medium and large RNA segments from Potosi virus (POTV) (1).
It remains unclear whether this microbe, dubbed Potosi virus, can cause human illness.
