PLCG1

Also found in: Acronyms.

PLCG1

A gene on chromosome 20q12-q13.1 that encodes a phospholipase which mediates production of the second messenger molecules diacylglycerol (DAG) and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) and plays an important role in regulating signalling cascades. PLCG1 is activated by ligand-mediated activation of receptor-type tyrosine kinases (e.g., PDGFRA, PDGFRB, FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4) and plays a role in actin reorganisation and cell migration.

We found for the PLCG cascade (BDNF, PLCG1, and PLCG2) that [PM.sub.2.5] exposure during the first month (p = 0.001) and the first trimester (p = 0.009) of pregnancy was associated with significantly lower levels of placental gene expression at birth (Table 3).
The binding of BDNF to its receptor TRKB initiates three main signaling cascades: pLc gamma cascade (PLCG1 and PLCG2), AKT cascade (AKT1, AKT2, and AKT3) and SOS cascade (SOS1, SOS2, and SYN1).
