Oxyuris

(ok'sē-yū'ris),
A genus of nematodes commonly called seatworms or pinworms (although the pinworm of humans is the closely related form, Enterobius vermicularis). Oxyuris equi, the horse pinworm, is a common parasite of horses in all parts of the world, inhabiting the large intestine.

En cuanto a helmintos no Strongylidae, Oxyuris equi se presento en 14,28% de las muestras y Parascaris equorum en 11,42% (TABLA III).
El genero Probstmayria fue descrito por Probstmayr (1865) bajo el nombre de Oxyuris vivipara encontrado en ciegos de caballos domesticos.

A rather large one, the females of which can be up to 63 millimeters long, is Oxyuris equi.
