NUDT15

NUDT15

A gene on chromosome 13q14.12 that encodes an enzyme which hydrolyses some nucleoside diphosphate derivatives. Its function in vivo is unknown—it may play a role in DNA synthesis and cell cycle progression by interacting with PCNA. NUDT15 may remove oxidatively damaged guanine (7,8-dihydro-8-oxoguanine) from DNA and the nucleotide pool, thereby preventing its misincorporation into DNA and A:T to C:G transversions.
