slime mould

fungus-like organisms (see PLASMODIUM having a naked mass of protoplasm and living and feeding on dead, decaying or living plants. They reproduce by spores and are capable of amoeboid movement. The group has been classified in the kingdom Mycota, according to some classifications. see MYXAMOEBA.
