mi·tral cells

large nerve cells in the olfactory lobe of the brain, the dendrites of which synapse (in glomeruli) with axons of the olfactory receptor cells of the nasal mucous membrane, and the axons of which pass centrally in the olfactory tract to the olfactory cortex.
