McBurney's sign

McBurney's sign

Tenderness on gentle pressure at a point (McBurney's point) on the right side of the abdomen two-thirds of the way from the navel to the bony prominence on the front of the hip (anterior superior iliac spine). This is a fairly reliable sign of APPENDICITIS. (Charles McBurney, 1845–1913, American surgeon).
