The incision of choice for pregnant women with appendicitis is through
McBurney's point. Am J Surg 2002;183(1):202.
These findings are consistent with global studies conducted by the World Gastroenterology Organization, which showed that least than half of all patients with appendicitis have maximum sensitivity on the
McBurney's point (5).
Tenderness over
McBurney's point and rebound tenderness are the commonest signs.
Tenderness was found at the right iliac fossa and
McBurney's point in all the patients.
B] SIGNS: Hyperasthesia, tenderness at
McBurney's point & rebound tenderness are common signs of acute appendicitis.
Tenderness is often maximal at or near the
McBurney's point when the inflamed appendix lies in the anterior position.
