MCM8
A gene on chromosome 20p12.3 that encodes one of the highly conserved minichromosome maintenance proteins (MCMs), which are involved in initiating eukaryotic genome replication. The hexamer (MCM 2-7) of MCM proteins is integral to the pre-replication complex, and may be involved in forming replication forks and recruiting other DNA replication related proteins; MCM8 co-immunoprecipitates with MCM4, -6 and -7, suggesting that it interacts with other MCM proteins and plays a role in DNA replication.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc.
