Lightwood syndrome

Lightwood syndrome

A form of renal dysfunction described in infants in the 1950s in the UK, which was characterised by failure to thrive, vomiting, dehydration and hyperchloremic acidosis. Some authors linked the syndrome to mercury, which was once used in baby powders, and thus may have been a variant of acrodynia, or pink disease.
