Leishman-Donovan bodies

The form in which Leishmania parasites appear in MACROPHAGE cells in LEISHMANIASIS. They appear as oval, nucleated, non-flagellated structures in the CYTOPLASM of the MACROPHAGES. Also known as amastigotes . (Major-General Sir William Boog Leishman, 1865–1926, English Army pathologist, and Lt Col Charles Donovan, 1863–1951, Irish physician).
