An obsolete, imprecise term that usually referred to adrenocortical insufficiency.

Adrenal fatigue, also called hypoadrenia, should not be confused with adrenal dysfunction and diagnosable medical conditions, such as adrenal insufficiency or Addison's disease, where there is a measurable underproduction of steroid hormones.
Q: I have a patient who is autoimmune: Hashimoto's, CFS with hypoadrenia w/pituitary involvement, menopausal sx, osteoporosis, and a mold allergy....
This creates a state of maladaptation called hypoadrenia or adrenal fatigue.
