Recently, we reported a unique behavior of
hydrazine hydrate towards certain benzofurans to produce phenolic-based pyrazoles [42].
The antifungal activities of all the synthesized substituted (E)-1-benzylidene-2-(3-nitrophenyl)
hydrazine compounds have been studied against three fungal species namely, Aspergillus niger, Mucor species and Trigoderma viride.
The main goal of the present study was to optimize the
hydrazine alkylation reaction.
Hydrazine derivatives are dangerous for any types of exposure, because they have long-term and specific effects and particularly they cause tumors in organs and tissues of animals [7].
For comparison to conventionally used propellants based on
hydrazine, the [Isp.sub.vac] and [rho][Isp.sub.vac] of hydrazine-oxidizer systems (neat
hydrazine, monomethylhydrazine (MMH), unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine (UDMH), and Aerozine 50) are shown in Figures 11 and 12, respectively.
The synthesis uses a
hydrazine reduction route taking advantage of sonication at room temperature.
Osazone formation is the direct reaction of any of these carbohydrates (glucose, fructose and mannose) with phenyl
hydrazine which resulted in the formation of crystalline colored compounds which was applied for the qualitative analysis of these compounds.
If verified as a valid alternative, this new propellant could be used not only in spacecraft, but also in military vehicles that operate on
hydrazine, said Roger Myers, executive director of Aerojet Rocketdyne, a partner in the program.
One of the chemicals he mentioned was
hydrazine, a highly toxic compound, also necessary for the proper maintenance of power station units.
