But Tony, or course, went on to become a household name, most famously through Hancock's Half Hour, broadcast on radio and television.
The cast includes impressionist James Hurn (BBC2's Dead Ringers, Hancock's Half Hour) and Janice Connolly (Phoenix Nights, Coronation Street, Mrs Barbara Nice).
It was set in the fictional seaside town of Churdley Bay, where Hancock was cast as a pompous, bumbling auctioneer with aspirations to be on the local council.
Dave Freak, of Birmingham Comedy Festival, which is presenting the two scripts at the Light House, said: "As very little of his early work has survived, so much of what people know about Hancock is based almost solely on the later Hancock's Half Hour radio and TV series.
