GP fund-holding practice

GP fund-holding practice

A UK term of art for a GP practice or a group of GP practices which is allocated a budget from which it may purchase certain types of healthcare services—e.g. outpatient, inpatient, and hospital direct access services. GP fund holders exercise the purchaser function for these services on behalf of their registered patients instead of the local NHS Board.
