John, English physician, 1712-1780. Fothergill disease - severe, paroxysmal bursts of pain in one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve. Synonym(s):
anginose scarlatina;
Fothergill neuralgia;
trigeminal neuralgia Fothergill sign - in rectus sheath hematoma, the hematoma produces a mass that does not cross the midline and remains palpable when the rectus muscle is tense.
