a flexible endoscope whose lumen is coated with fiberoptic glass or plastic fibers that have the optical property of transmitting images.

flexible endoscope

an optic instrument that transmits light and carries images back to the observer through flexible (about 10 mcm) transparent fibers, and used to inspect and treat interior portions of the body. These instruments are generally equipped with mechanisms for steering and may have additional ports for allowing sampling and/or operative instruments along their axis to the internal site.
