a set of mathematical formulas, axioms, and laws first enunciated in the annual reports submitted by William Farr to the Registrar General of England and Wales from 1839-1883. The laws deal with the relationship of incidence to prevalence, the natural history of epidemics, and mathematical features of common types of epidemic.
