Mizuguchi, "Direct conversion of human fibroblasts into hepatocyte-like cells by ATF5, PROX1, FOXA2,
FOXA3, and HNF4A transduction," Scientific Reports, vol.
The scientists were also able to pinpoint the role of the Foxa3 gene, which was shown for the first time to play an important role in repopulating blood-forming stem cells in the experimental system used by the researchers.
Foxa3 likely regulates the blood-cell-forming response that takes place under the conditions of stress experienced after transplantation.
Studies in other tissues have demonstrated the requirement of factors such as Fox[alpha]1, Foxa2,
Foxa3, and Spdef for colonic and airway epithelial goblet cell development [59-63].
