Ewing's tumour

A very malignant bone cancer affecting children up to the age of about 15. The tumour involves the inner bone tissue, usually of long bones and has a characteristic ‘onion skin’ appearance on X ray. There is swelling, tenderness and pain, and often fever. The outlook is seldom favourable. (James Ewing, American pathologist, 1866–1943).
