Eaton agent pneumonia

Lung inflammation (pneumonitis) caused by the organism Mycoplasma pneumoniae , a very small bacterium once thought to be a virus. Also known as primary atypical pneumonia. Outbreaks occur in institutions, mostly in children and young adults. The condition responds to tetracycline. (Monroe Davis Eaton, American bacteriologist, b. 1904).
