EIF2C4
EIF2C4
A gene on chromosome 1p34 that encodes a protein required for RNA-mediated gene silencing by the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), binding to short RNAs, such as microRNAs or short interfering RNAs, and repressing the translation of mRNAs complementary to them. EIF2C3 lacks endonuclease activity and does not appear to cleave target mRNAs; it interacts with EIF4B, IMP8, PRMT5, TNRC6A and TNRC6B.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc.
