A native to northeastern North America,
Dryopteris goldiana, or Goldie's fern, is one of the tallest types.
Nevertheless, growing in the soil between the logs is one robust plant of
Dryopteris carthusiana.
Nine species in old-growth forest like Adiantum incisum,
Dryopteris ramosa, and Fragaria nubicola were more frequent showing 100% frequency almost at all altitudes.

Two plants,
Dryopteris filix-max and Aegle marmelos, were also used as sedative.
