Douglas method
Douglas method
An obsolete obstetrical technique consisting of the conversion of a transverse lie to a breech position (Douglas mechanism) by intrauterine rotation, attributed to J Douglas (1777–1850)—the onset of active labour in a woman with a transverse lie is an indication for caesarean delivery; once labour is well established, attempts at conversion to a longitudinal lie by abdominal manipulation will likely not be successful.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc.
