The need for DSM-IV-PC arose from the observation that primary care physicians were not using the DSM-III and DSM-III-R.
Although the DSM-IV-PC offers no insight into treatment, it is the "nosology" of psychiatric choice and will help primary care physicians identify and describe their patients' problems and communicate with mental health professionals.
Thus, DSM-IV Made Easy solves one set of problems and the
DSM-IV-PC solves another.
