Corduroy Cloth Appearance

A fanciful term for a pattern that may be seen in vertebral body haemangiomas, which are most common in lower thoracic and upper lumbar vertebrae, and best seen on a lateral film; the appearance is due to patterned rarefaction of bone with decreased vertebral density due to osteoporosis accompanied by coarse vertical striations
