CLDN11
A gene on chromosome 3q26.2-q26.3 that encodes claudin-11, an integral membrane protein of the claudin family, the members of which form a physical barrier that prevents solutes and water from passing freely into the interstitial space between epithelial or endothelial cell sheets, and play critical roles in maintaining cell polarity and signal transduction. Claudin-11 is a major component of CNS myelin and plays a key role in regulating proliferation and migration of oligodendrocytes.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc. All rights reserved.
