DDX11

A gene on chromosome 12p11 that encodes a putative RNA helicase which contains a conserved Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) motif. RNA helicases are implicated in various processes involving alteration of RNA secondary structure, such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. DDX11 has both ATPase and DNA helicase activity, and binds to both single- and double-stranded DNA.
