It activates endogenous T cells by linking the CD3 antigen in the T cell receptor complex with the CD19 surface antigen on benign and malignant B cells.
Other than CD3 antigen, TCAs are infrequently investigated in routine HL cases.

Neoplastic cells of the penguin as well as of the pelican were immunoreactive to CD3 antigen, suggesting the lymphomas were of T-cell origin.

The T-cell origin was proven immunohistochemically by positive reaction to CD3 antigen. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a disseminated T-cell lymphoma in both species.
The CD3 antigen consists of at least 5 invariable/constant membrane proteins and is associated with 2 variable immunoglobulin-like glycoproteins, the T-cell receptor [alpha] and [beta] chains.

Additionally, newly-reported analyses showed increased CD8+ T cell density at the tumor interface, with the total density of CD8+ cells inside the tumor boundary area increased four-fold compared with baseline; increased numbers of cells expressing CD3 antigens, a pan T-cell marker, within tumor borders, and decreased expression of VISTA, a checkpoint molecule that inhibits T-cell activation and proliferation; increases in multiple chemoattractant factors in serum, consistent with increased trafficking of immune cells post CXCR4 inhibition.
