BNC1

A gene on chromosome 15q25.2 that encodes basonuclin 1, a zinc finger protein present in the basal cell layer of the epidermis and hair follicles, which is also abundant in the germ cells of the testes and ovaries. BNC1 is thought to play a role in regulating keratinocyte proliferation and rRNA transcription.
