pseudorabies

A rare, acute CNS infection of swine and cattle, of global distribution, which is caused by an alpha-herpesvirus, porcine herpesvirus 1 (herpesvirus suis), and spread by direct contact; possibly also airborne.
 
Clinical findings
Intense pruritus, irritability, bellowing, convulsions, paralysis, coma, and death, often days after onset.
 
Prevention
Vaccine reduces losses in infected herds, limits spread, decreases disease incidence.
