(ahr'nŏld rē'fleks) Coughing or discomfort resulting from touching the external auditory meatus during cerumen extraction or the insertion of earplugs, earmolds, or hearing aids. The Arnold nerve is a branch of the vagus nerve (cranial nerve X).
