aluminium acetate

A drug used externally to treat otitis externa. The solution is commonly applied on gauze wicks inserted into the external ear canal.

These preparations include antibiotics, steroids, aluminium acetate, acetic acid, and preparations containing combinations of both an antibiotic and a steroid.
To treat a rash caused by poison ivy, lukewarm baths and soaks with products containing aluminium acetate (a type of salt that dries up the weeping and blisters), and topical preparations such as calamine or topical steroids are helpful.
