Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service

An independent statutory body established in the UK to promote improved industrial relations and development of collective bargaining. Its remit has expanded to encompass individual matters such as unfair dismissal, redundancy, equal pay for equal value, and sex, racial and disability discrimination.

IN response to Colin Bateson's letter (Mailbag, June 28), ACAS, the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service, recommends that employers give trade union representatives time off from their employment duties to fulfil their duties as stewards.
As of last month, a former law on workplace discipline and grievance procedures has been replaced with an Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) code of practice.
ACAS stands for Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service. This is a government agency which has the aim of improving employment relations and promoting good practice in the workplace.
ACAS, the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service, has recommended a second employment specialist.
WORKERS in the West Midlands last year took an average of 10 days off sick, a survey by the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) has revealed.
